With college and university students just coming to the end of their studies many may be considering embarking on some travelling during a gap year and The Scotsman has given them some words of wisdom to help them get the most from their break by making their money go further.
One of the key pieces of advice is that 'travel insurance is a must for gap year travellers'. A gap year travel insurance policy that covers problems such as cancellations, loss or damage to possessions, including money, legal expenses and personal liability is recommended as the best form of cover.
Also certain gap year travellers may want to try their hand at some extreme sports or other potentially dangerous activities which may not be covered on a standard travel insurance policy.
Therefore gap year travellers will have to make sure their insurance covers them for any adventurous activities that they may wish to take part in.
And Mike Pickard, head of travel insurance at esure Travel Insurance, recently said: "It's crucial for holidaymakers to take out travel insurance and check they're covered before they try out the likes of white water rafting in Australia or shark-feeding in the Bahamas."
