Consumers 'appreciate' domestic holidays

The self-catering holiday provider Hoseasons has identified a changing perception to domestic tourist destinations over the past three or four years, as the recession and declining value of the pound force Brits to reassess their holiday plans.
Tim Fullam, marketing director at Hoseasons, suggested that the quality of accommodation had improved in many UK resorts.
He said: "An appreciation of the improved quality of UK holiday like lodge parks and that's made a difference to the way people view UK holidays as well."
However, this trend should not be seen as the signal for a reduction in travel insurance cover, as domestic policies still protect customers against lost, stolen or damaged goods and unexpected accommodation and travel costs.
Last month, the holiday provider travelsupermarket.com revealed that half of consumers had cancelled their planned trips abroad this year, which is an eventuality that may compensated by travel insurance.
