Consumers looking to keep down the cost of their holidays may have already invested in annual travel insurance so they don't have to take out cover each time they go away, but making the most of any new deals that become available could help them to save even more money.

To this end, the latest deal from easyJet may hold significant appeal. The low-cost carrier is offering up to ten per cent off selected flights while its competitor Ryanair's website is down for maintenance.

Between 17:00 BST tonight (June 24th) and 07:00 BST tomorrow morning, bargain hunters can receive a discount on routes to a range of destinations from airports across Britain simply by using the promotional code FRSUN09 when prompted.

"We are always happy to help out disappointed Ryanair customers. This is why easyJet has launched a special sale on ten of Ryanair's favourite routes," said easyJet UK regional general manager Paul Simmons.

However, easyJet has itself come under fire in recent days, this time by British Airways. The flag carrier has launched a new value checker, which is designed to allow customers to see the hidden extras associated with flying on one of the so-called low-cost carriers.
