Lawmakers Back Better Insurance Coverage For Kazakh Tourists

Kazakhstan's Parliament will raise the issue of greater insurance coverage for Kazakh tourists travelling abroad, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Majilis (lower chamber) deputy Vladimir Nekhoroshev.
"I believe we will raise the issue after the summer break. There have been five lethal cases for the last one and half months. We need to look into amounts of insurance coverage to make sure these amounts are sufficient to render required medical aid in case of emergency," Nekhoroshev said.
"There are just 17 million Kazakh. Every citizen should be appreciated. We are losing many lives in emergencies. The current insurance coverage is not sufficient. I believe this issue should be considered as part of obligatory insurance schemes," he believes.
On July 24, 2011, a Kazakh citizen injured in Cambodia died; a 17-year-old Kazakh girl died in Turkey earlier this month following a car crash.
