Currently, Chubb is seeking a Financial Institutions Underwriter for the Chicago, IL office.

This position is responsible for profitable growth of assigned complex book of business and/or specialty area.

Job Responsibilities:
(Pay band subject to change based on candidates experience level)
This position is a replacement for an open position in DFI which will move into the SRC


Evaluates complex business for coverage eligibility. Accepts, modifies or rejects risks based on a review of business in terms of loss experience and nature of risk in accordance with company/CSI guidelines and standards.

Maintains underwriting quality standards. Includes appropriate file documentation relating to final underwriting decision.

Serves as point person for assigned DFI (Financial Institution) key accounts and alpha agents, as appropriate. Develops/maintains strong working relationships by maintaining effective communications and visibility. Includes creating/executing on key account client and producer visitation plans.

For key account and assigned DFI (Financial Institution) producers, develops/executes effective sales and marketing strategies to generate profitable new/renewal business growth.

Generates new business opportunities within area of expertise. Includes driving new alliances, cross-selling and cross-commercial opportunities. Collaborates with Branch and Marketing, as appropriate, to retain and write new business.

Collaborates with Branch in educating producers on products, services, automation, and underwriting standards as well as sales/marketing techniques. Includes facilitating field producer education events, CE courses and product fairs within area of underwriting expertise.

Informs manager of coverage and/or product opportunities/weaknesses impacting growth potential. Gathers pertinent competitive information to assist in developing product development recommendations.

Provides support in a mentoring role to other team members, as appropriate

Experience and competencies:

Underwriting Acumen: Demonstrates deep technical knowledge of financial institution (DFI) and competitor products within area of expertise. Includes strong understanding of DFI/CSI playbook requirements and competitive market.

Negotiation/Deal Making: Ability to find creative solutions that strike appropriate balance between insured's and producer's needs while adhering to company's underwriting protocols and capabilities.

Consultation/Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders. Demonstrates effective consultation and partnering skills within defined territory (East or West), Home Office, Actuarial, Specialty Claims, General Counsel, IT, L&D, and Marketing.

Account and Agency Management: Demonstrated ability to build strong key account and alpha agency relationships under changing market conditions. Maintains visibility through periodic communications and visits.

Communications: Demonstrated ability to differentiate the Chubb proposal by effectively articulating (verbally and in writing) CSI - DFI strategy, appetite and capabilities.

Self-Management: Self-directed; works effectively as an individual contributor and team player.

Specialty in one of the following lines:

Financial Institutions - asset management (mutual funds, VC, hedge funds, family offices, private RE funds) Banks, Trusts, Security Firms

4 year college degree or equivalent work experience
Requisite complex business underwriting experience varies by level
